Jungle Night with Yo-Yo Ma

For the young people, or really anyone who loves animal noises, a special collaboration with my friend Sandra Boynton.

A note from Sandy:
The fabulous Yo-Yo Ma and I happily collaborated on JUNGLE NIGHT, a book and soundtrack released March 23, 2021 by Workman Publishing. Here is the animated version of the project. Narrated by my son Keith, each and every animal snore (Tiger: "ZEE-ZOO-HAAA") is interpreted by Yo-Yo's expressive, playful cello. This leads into a mystical lullaby: "Jungle Gymnopédie No. 1", my polyrhythmic jungly arrangement of Erik Satie's superb piece—with Yo-Yo Ma on cello, guitar by Ron Block (of Alison Krauss Union Station), and drums by Kevin MacLeod. We chose this piece because it's the most mesmerizing night song imaginable. And there was surely nothing else that could get those animals back to sleep after that elephant snore...
